About me

Jessica Bliss, PhD IBCLC

Hi- I’m Jessica. I’ve got a soft spot for new families and babies, which led me to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2022. I’m also a mom of three, runner, quilter, animal lover, and partner of a scientist.

I began Bright Star in 2024 to fill a much needed gap in lactation and breast/chest-feeding support in Corvallis, Oregon. My goal as your lactation consultant is to identify a plan that will work for all of you- the nursing parent, the baby, and the family as a whole. It is my hope that by the time I have left your home, you feel a sense of relief, confidence, and direction regarding your options and decisions.

My particular interests lie in the area of complex feeding challenges that require careful and creative problem solving. I consider myself a member of your care team, alongside your pediatrician, midwife, obstetrician, and/or family doctor. I also love to work with osteopaths, craniosacral therapists, chiropractors and massage therapists who specialize in infant care.

I have a PhD in International Nutrition with a focus on maternal and child health, and worked as an academic, a doula, and a hospital-based IBCLC prior to starting Bright Star.
